Coriander is a significant spice crop, highly valued for its ability to enhance the flavor of food. The plant is a small, bushy herb with slender stems, growing 25 to 50 cm tall, and is characterized by its many branches and umbels. The leaves are alternate and compound, and the entire plant emits a pleasant aroma. The inflorescence is a compound umbel, consisting of five smaller umbels. The fruit is globular, about 3 to 4 mm in diameter, and when pressed, it splits into two parts, each containing one seed. The fruit has a delicate fragrance, and the seeds range in color from pale white to light brown.
